Polygon --> MoonRiver (RelayChain)

Tutorial Assumptions

Even though the steps in this tutorial will generally apply universally, this tutorial will assume you have a MetaMask wallet set up for the Polygon network and your wallet is connected to the Polygon network. Before you start, also be sure you have at least 11 MATIC in your Polygon wallet.

09/30/21 - The fee to transfer tokens with RelayChain from Polygon is around 9 MATIC.

Bridging a Token from Polygon --> MoonRiver

  1. Swap the token(s) you'd like to transfer value across chains to WMATIC using your favorite DeX. RelayChain supports other tokens but WMATIC will have the best liquidity.

Ensure you swap tokens for wrapped MATIC and not MATIC. The RelayApp interface is a bit confusing and will show them interchangeably but you must bridge WMATIC.

2. Open your browser and navigate to the RelayChain app.

3. Ensure your wallet is connected to the Polygon network in the upper-right corner.

4. Next, click on the Destination Chain and choose Moonriver.

5. Next, select the token to transfer. We'll choose MATIC in the selection box. You'll see below that the token turns to WMATIC which is what you want.

6. Click Transfer. If this is your first time bridging WMATIC, you will be asked to approve the transfer.

7. Once approved, click Start Transfer, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

7. Now open your wallet and monitor the transaction. RelayChain will continue to show the above Transfer Pending even if the transaction succeeds or fails.

If all goes well, the transfer will take around 10-15 minutes depending on network congestion and the amount of gas you provided for the transaction.

You do not have to stay on the RelayChain page during the transfer. Use your wallet's activity as an indicator of the success or failure of the bridge transaction.
