How to Add a Network to the MetaMask Browser Extension

MetaMask is one of the most popular crypto wallets out there that supports various chains with one wallet. The process of setting up support a network is nearly identical across all chains.

Note that if you're setting up the MoonRiver network, you can skip this tutorial and alternatively set up the MoonRiver network in MetaMask by navigating to the MoonBeam docs page, click on Connet MetaMask and then on Moonriver and follow the MetaMask prompts.

The tutorial will assume you already have the MetaMask Chrome browser extension installed and set up.

1. Click on the fox icon in your browser’s extension bar to open your MetaMask wallet.

2. Click on the network selection button at the top of the app. The button is probably set to Ethereum Mainnet now. Scroll to the bottom of the list and select Custom RPC.

   

3. In the Custom RPC box, provide the following details based on the chain you're setting up and click Save.

1. That's it! You can now manage tokens on your new network in MetaMask.
